At The EXX Official, we bring together a diverse community of poets and readers dedicated to the art and craft of poetry. Our mission is to inspire and celebrate poetry in all its forms, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of this timeless literary expression.

We are looking for poems that are bold, unique, and challenge our perceptions of what a poem can be. We want writing that brings us into the future of literary art in new and exciting ways, literary art that paves the way for the existence of something more than meaning.

The EXX Official was founded on October 17, 2022, by Thomas L. Pate, a freshman at the University of Iowa. His vision for poetry was that of blended and harmonious literary and visual art encapsulated within the space of a single page. Staying true to his original publication format, we continue the tradition of one poem, one page.

We are currently based in Iowa City, Iowa, and publish all our featured poets’ work offline around the University of Iowa campus. If you are interested in publication, please submit your poetry to us, and we will be happy to see if your work is the right fit for our publication. Submission is free and rolling, although tips are appreciated.

Since we are a smaller start-up publication, we are not able to provide payment for any poetry, which is why we do not ask for First Publication rights. We currently act as a conduit for poets to get their names out into the community through public exposure.
